Noticing a trend among the talks I’ve sampled so far — from installing dark patterns to posting awful tweets, a lot of our friends are being asked to do horrible, horrible things at work. We seem to be spending a lot of time assuring folks “it’s okay to refuse to do that, and here’s a thing that would work much better.”

@joetaylorjr this is really intriguing (and disconcerting) and is really like to learn more about what you’ve been hearing.

@joetaylorjr Some of us have been involved with worse things than dodgy UI. There's some truly awful things being built right now, by us makers, because large organizations do what they need to do, almost self-blindly. This stuff is harmful to civilization and humanity, and it's up to us at the bottom to recognize our small parts and try to steer the big ships away from it.
