I’m struggling to decide which book I should read next. Who’s got some good ideas?

@mattmcmanus depends on what you're into but lately I very much enjoyed "The Language of Cities" and George Pelecanos' "Soul Circus"

@markb This one? goodreads.com/book/show/411509. I tried to pick up Being and Time by Heidegger but I put it down. I'll try again when I don't have a 6 and 2 year old!

@brianalmorgan All the parameters! I'm currently waffling between the Brothers Karamazov, No God but God by Aslan, Calibans War by Corey, The Dragon's Path by Abraham, and
The Idolatry of God by Rollins. Here is some stuff I've read recently: mcmanus.io/category/review

@mattmcmanus I love that this is on your site! I was just saying to a colleague that I need to re-read Brothers K at some point. Read it in HS but had an old, not-great translation. Recently enjoyed American War by Omar El Akkad and Fledgling by Octavia Butler. I read a whole bunch of books concurrently, but today I’m working on We Need to Talk by Celeste Headlee and The Remedy: Queer and Trans Voices on Health and Healthcare edited by Zena Sharman.

@brianalmorgan thanks! It’s been fun to play around with the design and try the write on a more regular basis.

I’ve had Liliths Brood queued up by Butler for a long time at the recommendation of a friend.

@Satsuma All genre's really. I'm currently waffling between the Brothers Karamazov, No God but God by Aslan, Calibans War by Corey, The Dragon's Path by Abraham, and
The Idolatry of God by Rollins. Here is some stuff I've read recently: mcmanus.io/category/review

@mattmcmanus my nonfiction runs political which not everyone can deal with in our current situation, but it looks like yours does too so, I enjoyed Give Us the Ballot by Ari Berman, which is a history of voting rights in America

For Sci Fi, I haven’t read the whole Poseidon’s Children series (it starts with Blue Remembered Planet) but what I have read was a solidly written space opera with engaging characters

Also if you haven’t picked up Terry Pratchett’s diskworld series, do so

@mattmcmanus
Check out my GoodReads for some ideas. But here are a few I liked somewhat recently: Hitchhiker's Guide, Ready Player One, Unbroken, Annihilation

@cdevroe I bought unbroken a while ago and haven't picked it up yet. That's a good thought.

@Dreadpirate Lots of books! All the parameters! Here is some stuff I've read recently: mcmanus.io/category/review

@mattmcmanus Well I just got done reading the Lady Astronaut series from Mary Robinette Kowal. Very good alternate history pair of books.
